LEGO IDEAS – “POP-UP BOOK” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “POP-UP BOOK” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

The second 2017 LEGO Ideas review is now locked away and a distant memory. Finally we can move on and what better way to kickstart the third 2017 LEGO Ideas review, than a project that I truly love, is original and reflects the spirit of LEGO Ideas. The LEGO Idea is titled “Pop-Up Book” and is the creation of JKBrickworks (collaboration between Grant Davis and Jason Allemann). What I love is it’s such an original idea. The book (made of LEGO of course)…

LEGO IDEAS – SECOND 2017 REVIEW QUALIFYING PERIOD NOW CLOSED

LEGO IDEAS – SECOND 2017 REVIEW QUALIFYING PERIOD NOW CLOSED

Well that’s it the qualifying period for the second 2017 LEGO Ideas review panel has now closed and we have surprisingly slim pickings with only 6 projects making it into the review and the greater 10k club. It’s a difficult group for me I can’t say any of the projects really excitement me sadly. If I had to choose one I would would go for “The Wonders Of Peru” for its originality. Project summary below: Nasa Saturn-V Launch Umbilical Tower…

LEGO IDEAS – “NASA SATURN-V LAUNCH UMBILICAL TOWER” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “NASA SATURN-V LAUNCH UMBILICAL TOWER” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

Looks like the success of the LEGO Ideas Saturn V Rocket (21309) is spawning lots of related LEGO Ideas projects. After seeing the recent NASA Space Shuttle (Saturn V Scale) hit 10,000 supporters, next off the rank is a LEGO Idea directly related to the Saturn V Rocket – Nasa Saturn-V Launch Umbilical Tower. Nasa Saturn-V Launch Umbilical Tower is the brainchild of Valerie Roche (Whatsuptoday) and Emmanuel Urquieta (Spacemd) who worked collaboratively to design the NASA Saturn-V Launch Umbilical Tower at 1/110 scale…

LEGO IDEAS – “NASA SPACE SHUTTLE (SATURN V SCALE)” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

Finally something to get me a little bit excited about this bunch of LEGO Ideas, though still not quite in the magical imaginative and unique category yet. The 5th LEGO Idea to make the second 2017 review panel launches off the back of the recent massive success of LEGO Ideas Saturn V Rocket (21309). This Idea takes the same scale (approx. 1:111) and applies it to a modernised LEGO Nasa Space Shuttle configured in its vertical takeoff configuration with Separating…

LEGO IDEAS – “I AM YOUR FATHER” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “I AM YOUR FATHER” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

Oh boy still no excitement coming out of this current bunch of Ideas with the fourth Idea based on the iconic scene from Star Wars when Luke finds out Darth Vader is his father. While this sounds like a good concept I have to say straight off the bat this Idea has some major issues! Summary below: Based on a current License (Star Wars) – moving forward LEGO Ideas has changed the rules to exclude existing licenses. Digital render –…

LEGO IDEAS – “THE WONDERS OF PERU” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “THE WONDERS OF PERU” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

2 weeks of radio silence from a Blogger is a lifetime, but Assembly Square (all 4,000 bricks) has me bunkered down trying to finish the build and review. Thankfully this is the last large model of the year. Tricked you, that couldn’t be further from truth if I tried – Thanks LEGO! My wallet and spare time has to cover the Saturn V Rocket, new Carousel, Old Fishing Store, London Double Decker Bus / UCS Millennium Falcon (big question mark…

LEGO IDEAS OLD FISHING STORE 21310 OFFICIAL IMAGES

LEGO IDEAS OLD FISHING STORE 21310 OFFICIAL IMAGES

I have to admit 2017 is turning out to be a cracker of a year for LEGO Ideas releases! First we had all the hype around the giant Saturn V Rocket (21309) that is now on general sale and now to cap off we have the eagerly anticipated Old Fishing Store 21310. The Old Fishing Store Idea pleasantly surprised the LEGO community (myself included) back in October 2016 when it passed the review panel due to it’s complexity and size. Well after…

LEGO IDEAS – “GILMORE GIRLS” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

With the first 2017 review group locked away and a distant memory now we move into the second review of 2017 and our first entrant to hit 10,000 supporters – “Gilmore Girls” I’m sorry I have to admit I haven’t got a foggiest who and what the heck Gilmore Girls is. Initially I thought it was that show that my mum inflicted on my as a kid “Golden Girls”, but when I started digging was wrong thankfully (sorry for Golden Girl…

LEGO IDEAS 21309 NASA APOLLO SATURN V PRIMED AND READY TO TAKE US TO THE MOON!

LEGO IDEAS 21309 NASA APOLLO SATURN V PRIMED AND READY TO TAKE US TO THE MOON!

After a great marketing campaign by LEGO with teaser posters and the likes, the 17th approved LEGO Ideas project – 21309 NASA APOLLO SATURN V is ready for blast off. The SATURN V Rocket is brainchild of Felix Stiessen (saabfan) and Valerie Roche (whatsuptoday) and is the largest LEGO Ideas set to hit the shops to date (Old Fishing Store likely to take the title soon). Like the real thing this rocket is whooping and stands at an impressive 1 metre tall (~1:110 scale) and…

LEGO IDEAS – “MEDIEVAL WATERMILL” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “MEDIEVAL WATERMILL” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

There is still life in the first 2017 review group with “Medieval Watermill” just sneaking into the group by hitting the magically 10,000 supporter mark! The creator fishingtwister has created a very detailed and rustic medieval watermill central to any european village. No detail on piece count, but at a guess it would be fairly high based on the intricate small piece detail. Design comes with 3 x minifigures (family) and the famous and horribly expensive goat (only appeared in…
