LAND ROVER BUILDS LARGEST LEGO SCULPTURE

LAND ROVER BUILDS LARGEST LEGO SCULPTURE

Yesterday Land Rover posted a new ad advertising the release of its all new Land Rover Discovery. But what makes this really interesting is they decided to build a replica of London’s Tower Bridge out of LEGO and just happened to build the largest LEGO sculpture (most bricks) to date in the world!

The 13m/42 foot tall structure was created using a staggering 5,805,846 LEGO bricks. Not only is it noted as being the largest LEGO sculpture, but this has been officially recognised by the Guinness World Record.

The model took 5 months to build and was led by Duncan Titmarsh (UK’s only LEGO Certified Professional Builder) with the help of other LEGO Master Builders. In addition to LEGO London Tower Bridge replica they also throw in a LEGO replica of the America’s Cup Sailboat consisting of 186,500 being towed by Olympic gold medalist Sir Ben Ainslie in the new Discovery.

Oh and I nearly forget to say stuntman Bear Grylls decided to abseil down from an overhead helicopter amongst fireworks and Zara Phillips jumped over two Discovery cars on a horse just for good measure and cement that British feel to the whole affair!

To end on – Emma Owen (LEGO UK and Ireland spokeswoman) said: “We are thrilled that Jaguar Land Rover has used Lego bricks to add some Guinness World Record-breaking creativity to the launch of the latest Discovery.”

Anyone going to rush out and buy one?

 Happy Building!
