4 days ago I embarked on a crazy idea – would anyone back me in purchasing more material (LEGO) to offer in depth reviews on my blog. That’s when Indiegogo jumped into the picture offering a platform for supporters to back an idea.
Of course I had to offer something in return and had to think long and hard on what could I throw in as a perk. Recognition, LEGO minifigures, chance to post your own review on my blog and an awesome mystery LEGO model designed by Ryan McNaught (the only LEGO certified professional in the Southern Hemisphere) sealed and boxed. With perks locked and loaded I created my first ever crowd funding project on Indiegogo – LEGO Blog All About The Brick.
To emphasis the the crowd funding project is not a cheap stab at getting you my readers to pay my bills or feed an addiction (not including LEGO here!), but to assist in funding the purchase of additional LEGO through to the end of the year. By that point I will be applying for Registered LEGO User Group (RLUG), which will assist in me obtaining LEGO for the sole purpose of reviewing and enhancing the Adult Fan Of LEGO (AFOL) community.
Sales pitch over I have to say a massive and I mean MASSIVE thank you to my backers so far. After 4 days I have raised $71, which if the project was to end tomorrow will bring 2-3 independent LEGO reviews to my readers. I really can’t say thank you enough.
Literally every dollar counts, if every one of my readers backed me at a $1 I would smash my target 120%.
Please feel free to read my crowd funding project on Indiegogo – LEGO Blog All About The Brick and if nothing else share with friends.
Stay tuned for more updates and fun perks.
