For those who don’t know Lego has a dedicated service called Lego Ideas, which allows budding Lego builders to upload an idea, gather support and get Lego to review and maybe bring the idea to market as an official set (earning the creator a royalty on sales). Each year thousands of hopeful Lego builders upload their ideas to the site and if they can reach 10,000 supporters within a set timeframe progress to the official Lego review panel (sits twice a year).
Hot off the press in the last few days the Addams Family Mansion (60’s tv show) from afol777 has finally hit 10,000 supporters and will join pride and place with Voltron – Defender of the Universe and Spaceballs – Eagle 5 in the second 2016 review panel.
The Addams Family Mansion is absolutely gorgeous and is a worthy contender to transition to an official set. Lego has shown a lot of interest in Halloween and haunted house themes in the past and this would sit comfortably alongside the other sets and minifigures. However, in its current form it’s a monster (mind the pun) coming in at a whopping 7,200 in the piece count. The set will need to get a major hair cut to be commercially viable!
That being said I reckon this set could prove to be very popular and I would personally love to see this set hit our shops!
