This post marks a bit of a change of path for me. Normally I blog on LEGO Ideas that hit the magically 10,000 supporters mark, so everyone can see what Ideas sets could be hitting our shelves soon. However, every now and then an idea appears that really captures my attention and I think warrants showing to the masses to help get it over the line.
Yesterday one of those ideas popped up (mind the pun) smacked me in the face while browsing through the LEGO Ideas website.
The LEGO Idea is titled “Pop-Up Book” and is the creation of JKBrickworks (collaboration between Grant Davis and Jason Allemann). What I love is it’s such an original idea. The book (made of LEGO of course) is cleverly designed to feature a simple and reliable mechanism that pops up a structure when the book opens, and pulls it back in when the book closes.
The project brief states that the set could come with two interchangeable scenes and has room for 3-5 minifigures depending on the final design outcome.
As I mentioned before I really do love this set and its the first time in a while where I’ve seen a truly original idea. If this set makes the 10,000 supporter mark I foresee it cruising through the LEGO review panel and hitting our shelves.
Keen to hear peeps thoughts – Is this a truly original idea or does it miss the mark?
