LEGO Ideas is really firing at the moment with the fourth idea hitting the magical 10,000 supporters mark and will now head into the second 2016/2017 review panel. This idea was another one that raced through the support ranks achieving 10,000 supporters in 5 weeks. Amazing what a good dose of social media can do! Irrespective of that it is actually a sweet little idea. Titled “Red Arrow Hawk” the idea is based around the famous Red Arrows plane that are an icon of the British air show circuit and public face of the RAF.
The creator M4 CUS worked in collaboration with RAFRED10 and the design has been based on BAE Systems Hawk T1 aircraft (powered by a Rolls-Royce engine). The design has incorporated functioning components such as a retractable undercarriage and opening cockpit canopy. The proposed design also includes 2 x minifigures (pilot and engineer wearing their iconic red and blue flying suits).
It will be interesting to see how this idea progresses through the review panel. Though it’s a great idea it may struggle with the current release LEGO Airport Show 60103 due to similarities and the fact the Red Arrows are very specific to the UK and potential limited market for the model.
Remember to support all those aspiring LEGO builders out there on LEGO Ideas.
