LEGO IDEAS – SECOND 2016 REVIEW WINNER – WOMEN OF NASA

LEGO IDEAS – SECOND 2016 REVIEW WINNER – WOMEN OF NASA

The results are in for the second 2016 review of LEGO Ideas and the winner is – Women of NASA by 20tauri.

Quick recap – the project covers female greats from NASA’s history that have contributed to the success of the space agency. These include:

  • Margaret Hamilton
  • Katherine Johnson
  • Sally Ride
  • Nancy Grace Roman
  • Mae Jenison

Not only do we have a great LEGO designed frame, but we also get 4 x cool little vignettes that set the scene for each minifigure.

With the “Hidden Figures” hitting the movie/cinemas at the moment this idea comes at a perfect time to capitalise on all the hype and momentum.

Full the full run down and announcement see LEGO Ideas YouTube video below:

Projects below highlight those sadly not making to our shelves and a big fat and unusual question mark against Voltron, which will slip into the next review panel.

As always interested in hearing everyone’s thoughts on the winner? Feel free to post a comment here or via the facebook page.

Congratulations again to 20tauri and look forward to grabbing one of these bad boys when they hit our shelves.

Happy Building!

  1. Not a set to really build. While I respect the creator and the message, its disappointing that there was not another set chosen along with this one that people could build. Can’t see this being a big seller.

    1. Agree it sends a great message. The last review panel they picked the Old Fishing Store which pleasantly surprised a lot of us, so I can see why this would be chosen to to keep the Ideas lineup varied. Plus commercially it makes sense as it will come off the back of the hugely successful scientist Ideas set.

  2. I really wanted the Adams Family mansion to win. I have nothing against the winner, but I grew up watching reruns of the show and would really like to have had that in my house. Does anyone know if I can get a hold of the parts list and building manual?

    1. Keep an eye out on the Adams Family LEGO Ideas page or message them in comments. They sometimes offer LDD instructions. This happened recently with Jonny 5 model, which was offered via a charity site to raise money for worthy causes.

  3. My son’s really wants the Voltron to be chosen! It was a very popular cartoon show in 80’s and they brought it back! My son’s will love the opportunity, to play with a Lego Voltron. Just like their Uncle played with in the 80’s! Please consider choosing it, it will be a great collectable for adults and it will be an awesome play toy for kids!
