Normally I blog about one of the amateur designed LEGO Ideas hitting 10,000 supporters every month or so. However in the last week this is my second post on LEGO Ideas and I know there are several others that may hit 10,000 in the next few weeks – stay tuned!
Anyway the eighth LEGO Ideas design for the second 2016 review has just hit the magical 10,000 supporters threshold. For those who don’t know what or how this works refer to my previous blog on LEGO Ideas.
The LEGO Idea is titled “Women of NASA” and is the creation of 20tauri. The project hit the 10,000 supporters in less than two weeks and (though not sure) this may be a record for LEGO Ideas. The project covers greats from NASA’s history that have contributed to the success of the space agency. These include:
- Margaret Hamilton
- Katherine Johnson
- Sally Ride
- Nancy Grace Roman
- Mae Jenison
Not only do we have a great LEGO designed frame, but we also get 4 x cool little vignettes that set the scene for each minifigure.
Its great seeing more female influence in the LEGO world. However, it would be great if this set could be expanded to have both male and female greats or follow up with a Men of NASA set. Time will tell if this makes it through and in what form.
Women of NASA joins pride and place with Voltron – Defender of the Universe, Addams Family Mansion, Spaceballs – Eagle 5, , the Merchant’s House, the Large Hadron Collider, Observatory – Mountain View and Modular Construction Site in the second 2016 review panel.
Remember to support all those aspiring LEGO builders out there on LEGO Ideas.
