Thanks to a follower (shared a post from Weixin) and the power of Google translate – We now have our first official images of the first Chinese city to be joining the LEGO Architecture Skyline series. LEGO Architecture Shanghai 21039 will likely be one of three city skylines (no news on the other two yet) to be released as part of the 2018 wave.
As with all the skyline series the set crames in some of the key iconic buildings that give Shanghai its global identity and distinct flavour. Buildings include:
- Longhua Temple
- The Bund
- Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World
- The Oriental Pearl Tower
- The Shanghai World Financial Center
- Shanghai Tower
Looks like the Shanghai Tower will be an interesting build highlighting a great flowing twist build technique (I wonder if we’ll be seeing any new parts?). Though I have no links to Shanghai I think the uniqueness and cool looking buildings may tempt me to part some cash on this set (If not I’m sure there is ~1.4 Billion Chinese that might be interested!). I’ve been a convert to the Skyline series ever since I did my review on LEGO Architecture London Skyline 21034.
LEGO Architecture Shanghai 21039 will be available globally from the 1st January 2018. For those living in Shanghai looks like you will get an opportunity to grab this set early from the Shanghai Disneyland LEGO store from 2nd December 2017. Not only that you will get to meet the lead designer Jamie Berard who will be signing sets on the day.
Watch this space for news on the rest of the wave and prices.
