LEGO NEWS – LEGO EDUCATION PANAMA CANAL

This is an interesting one – A friend of mine pinged me today on a special release LEGO Education set to commemorate the reopening of the expanded Panama Canal.  The set has been designed around the new Neopanamax locks and actually shows how the lock mechanism works lowering and raising the water levels assisting vessels transiting through the canal between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

The set will consist of 1,184 pieces and the sad news is it will be limited to 40,000 and sold only in Panama – cue the sad face 🙁 As with all Education sets the price is rather steep at a whooping $250 (USD), but it is worth noting the technical effort that LEGO design team plow into these sets to warrant the Education set badge. Release date is earmarked for the first week of December 2016.
