After 12 months of design, redesign, planning and preparation – Bricktober-Perth 2016 is finally over for another year. The annual event based in normally sunny Western Australia continued the trend of growing in size beating the previous year’s ticket sales (even taking into account torrential rain) and raising money for Rotary International (fight against Polio) and Local Rotary Club (bringing LEGO to Schools in WA).
This year two halls were full with Exhibitors showing off their special MOC creations that awed the public and no doubt generated thousands of pictures and arm tugging of parents to buy LEGO from the LEGO sellers outside supporting the event.
We had displays covering Micropolis City, Star Wars, Super Heroes, Friends, Elves, Vintage, Modular City, Christmas, Stargate, Aliens, Architecture, Scientific, Medieval, Disney, Mixel and Bionicle.
Massive apologies to the gentleman displaying the Bionicles! When asked what I thought I wrongly said I hadn’t collected Mixels before – Epic Fail! Idea maybe next year his Bionicles can move around the event invading different displays.
Peoples choice this year went to Clinton John who displayed his MOC of Northbridge (Perth) from the Brass Monkey heading north with a Pride march (hundreds of minifigures forming floats and parades).
Keep an eye out over the next week or so. I will be blogging on several displays in detail and interviews with the creators.
If like me attending or volunteering is not enough head over and like the Bricktober Facebook page and keep an eye out for when they call out for Exhibitors!
