NEWS ROUNDUP – NEW LEGO GROUP CEO, NINJAGO CITY, OLD FISHING STORE AND MORE

NEWS ROUNDUP – NEW LEGO GROUP CEO, NINJAGO CITY, OLD FISHING STORE AND MORE

You would be forgiven in thinking that there has been other news other than the constant stream of potential LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon teasers! Surprisingly there has been some rather big news like a new CEO at the head of the LEGO group or David Beckham attempting to take on the LEGO Disney Castle on a Emporio Armani towel in the sun (poor white bricks!). Let’s have a look at what has been swirling around in the news…

LEGO MOC TIME – “EMPIRE DAUNTLESS SHIP / 帝國無敵船”

LEGO MOC TIME – “EMPIRE DAUNTLESS SHIP / 帝國無敵船”

I have to say I’ve really enjoyed my “LEGO MOC Time” blog series. It’s taken me to multiple countries, covered a wide range of concepts/designs and showcased the creativity of our wide AFOL community out there. In keeping with all things new and the freshness of the series I will be covering our first LEGO MOC ship and trialing dual language on the question and answers (please be forgiving if it’s a little sketchy – dealing with Chinese). Well it’s…

IT REMAKE DIRECTOR LIME GREEN BRICK EPIC FAIL

IT REMAKE DIRECTOR LIME GREEN BRICK EPIC FAIL

What’s scarier than the new remake “IT” trailer I hear you ask? Well it’s the wrath of the LEGO community when the highly paid Directors get their facts wrong. Thanks to eagle eyed Nathan Wells over on Twitter (@NathanAWells) who spotted the use of 2×2 lime green Lego slope bricks in the recently released “IT” trailer. The problem being that lime green wasn’t released until 2010 and the movie is set in 1989 – Doh! If you want to see…

LEGO IDEAS – “I AM YOUR FATHER” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “I AM YOUR FATHER” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

Oh boy still no excitement coming out of this current bunch of Ideas with the fourth Idea based on the iconic scene from Star Wars when Luke finds out Darth Vader is his father. While this sounds like a good concept I have to say straight off the bat this Idea has some major issues! Summary below: Based on a current License (Star Wars) – moving forward LEGO Ideas has changed the rules to exclude existing licenses. Digital render –…

SEASONAL HALLOWEEN SET REVEALED 40260

SEASONAL HALLOWEEN SET REVEALED 40260

After posting about the LEGO Thanksgiving set (40261), one of my followers highlighted that the official images were out for the promotional LEGO Halloween set (40260) as well – Turns out they have been in the public domain for nearly 6 months! After last years brick built Vampire and Bat I’m personally happier with the return to the mini dioramas. While I’m still a big fan of 2015’s outing (Trick or Treat 40122) I think this year’s set could be…

NEWS ROUNDUP – LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE, STAR WARS, BRICKTOBER-PERTH, LEGO WORLDS AND MORE

NEWS ROUNDUP – LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE, STAR WARS, BRICKTOBER-PERTH, LEGO WORLDS AND MORE

A few weeks back it dawned on me that Bricktober-Perth 2017 was only 10 weeks away and those that order a lot of LEGO from Bricklink know this time can been eaten away quickly when waiting on the postman! So I made a decision to concentrate on my display MOC, but in the process the blog took a bit of a hit on regular updates! To play catch up I have tried to squeeze the last week or so of…

SEASONAL THANKSGIVING SET REVEALED 40261

SEASONAL THANKSGIVING SET REVEALED 40261

Every year LEGO releases various seasonal sets covering Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Chinese New Year, Thanksgiving and so on. Normally they are released as part of a promotion and occasionally country specific. This tradition seems to grow from strength to strength and some of these early promotions now fetch a healthy penny on sites such as eBay and Bricklink. Well thanks to a post by Almir Sadovic on Brickgeeks we have our first look at this years Thanksgiving promotion. 40261 covers…

REVIEW – LEGO CITY JUNGLE EXPLORATION SITE 60161

REVIEW – LEGO CITY JUNGLE EXPLORATION SITE 60161

LEGO City theme has and is a staple of my family LEGO purchases. If you tread on a piece of LEGO in our house it’s likely it’s from a Police Station, Deli shop or on old grandma’s minifig herself! But it would be a dull life if you were chasing crooks all day long, so LEGO has been releasing City subthemes each year taking the dull city life out into the big wide world from the arctic, deep sea, volcanoes…

LEGO EDUCATION PANAMA CANAL 2000451 GLOBALLY AVAILABLE

LEGO EDUCATION PANAMA CANAL 2000451 GLOBALLY AVAILABLE

Back in November last year I bought you the news of a cool educational set being produced as part of a special release to commemorate the reopening of the expanded Panama Canal (2000451). The set has been designed around the new Neopanamax locks and shows how the lock mechanism works lowering and raising the water levels assisting vessels transiting through the canal between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Well massive thanks to Juan (follower of All About The Brick) for his heads up…

LEGO IDEAS – “NF-15B RESEARCH AIRCRAFT” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

LEGO IDEAS – “NF-15B RESEARCH AIRCRAFT” HITS 10,000 SUPPORTERS

I have to be honest and start off with saying I’m not getting very excited by the current bunch of LEGO Ideas that have hit 10,000 supporters so far. 3 months into the second 2017 review panel and we only have three LEGO Ideas through – feels like watching paint dry! To be fair the designers have done a good job maybe I’m just sleep deprived after a late LEGO build night with PLUG and rough day at work. Anyway time…
